Cut out animation
To create our cut out animation we first needed to get an idea of the Zoetrope device and learn how to use the device
Zoetrope :A zoetrope is a device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures, the term zoetrope is from the Greek word “zoe”, “life” and the word tropos means turn, it may be taken to mean wheel of life. It is a consist of a cylinder with slits cut vertically in the sides, beneath the slits on the inner surface of the cylinder is a band which has either individual frames from a video/film or images from a set off sequences drawing or photograps.as the cylinder spins the user looks through the slits at the pictures on the opposite sides of the cylinder. The modern day zoetrope was first invented by William hornier who called it a ‘daedalum’ meaning wheel of devil
After gaining knowledge of the zoetrope we was asked to make a similar one like it to see how it would look, we used magazines to find and cut the pictures we needed for our topic and we started experimenting with them.
We first got use to the webcam device and it didn’t take much time until we gained the hang of it and was able to record, pause, cut and edit and having previous experience with the tripod we knew what to do and how to set up the right angle.
I and Imran had cut out various images of celebrities, accessories such as shoes, trousers and many more items. We done a short brainstorm on what will be happening in the cut out animation
After getting that part done we then had to gather all of the items together and come up with a plan for what we will be using and how we will plan it out. We used istop motion for the cut out animation and had to pause step by step to create the animation of the cut outs.
